Coronado Extended Family Photos | San Diego Family Photography

Extended family photos with little kids can feel like they’re going to be chaos, and sometimes they kind of are! But that’s part of the fun. This Coronado family session had plenty of wiggly kiddos who were much more interested in the beach than standing perfectly still for photos, so we rolled with it. We got the big group together when we needed to, then gave the kids plenty of chances to move, play, and just be kids. Coronado is perfect for that because there’s so much space, and the beach gives little ones something to DO instead of asking them to smile at a camera for an hour.

If you’re planning extended family pictures and worried that your kids won’t cooperate, please don’t let that stop you from booking them. Your two-year-old does not need to suddenly develop the patience of a 40-year-old for us to get great photos! I go into San Diego extended family sessions knowing we’ll work around snack breaks, wandering toddlers, and kids who decide they are completely finished with my agenda. The goal isn’t a gallery where everyone behaved perfectly. It’s to get photos of your whole family together during this exact season of life, wiggles included.
