Family Photos at Montevalle Park | Chula Vista Family Photographer
When people think about family photo locations in San Diego, they usually think of the beach first. And while I love a good beach session, some of my favorite family photos happen right here in Eastlake, Chula Vista. Montevalle Park is one of those locations that tends to fly under the radar, which is probably part of why I like it so much.
I love how relaxed Montevalle Park feels. Parents aren't worrying about waves, sand, parking, or crowds. Kids can explore a little, and sessions tend to unfold naturally because everyone feels comfortable. This beautiful Chula Vista park has open grassy areas, mature trees, walking paths, and plenty of space for kids to move around. It photographs especially well in the late afternoon when the light starts filtering through the trees and everything takes on that warm Southern California glow.
This family met me here for their session, and it was the perfect reminder that family photos don't need a dramatic backdrop to be meaningful. Sometimes all you need is a beautiful evening, a little room for the kids to run, and a family willing to spend a few minutes together.
As always, my goal isn't to create a gallery full of perfectly posed images. Of course we'll get everyone looking at the camera and smiling. But I'm also paying attention to the little interactions that happen in between. The way your child leans into you. The giggles that happen when Dad starts being silly. The moments that actually feel like your family.
If you're looking for a family photo location in Chula Vista or Eastlake, Montevalle Park is definitely worth considering. It's beautiful year-round, easy for families with young children, and offers a clean, timeless backdrop that keeps the focus where it belongs: on the people you love.
