Ooops I just found these photos ready to blog and I couldn’t let them go even though I’m months late!

Spring at Lake Murray is SO pretty when the wildflowers show up! We had flowers everywhere for this family session, plus a couple of little kids with plenty of energy to burn, which is pretty much my ideal combination. Instead of trying to convince them to stand still and smile at me all evening, we let them run around, explore, snuggle with their parents when they felt like it, and just kept things moving. We got tons of cute candid family photos in between, and all that movement made the session feel way more like them.

If you're nervous to book family photos because you're convinced your energetic kid will never cooperate, I promise they don't need to! Some of my favorite photos happen while kids are running away from me, being tossed in the air, investigating something they found on the ground, or cracking up with their parents. They can pretty much run around the whole session and we're STILL going to get cute photos. Lake Murrayin La Mesa is especially great for this because there's space to move, and during wildflower season we get such a gorgeous spring backdrop while the kids get to do their thing. Your job isn't to make your kids behave perfectly for the photographer. Just come ready to play with them, and I'll take care of the rest!
