Swami's Beach Family Portraits | San Diego Family Photographer

Sixteen years!! That’s how long I’ve been photographing this family, which is kind of wild when I really think about it. I’ve gotten to watch their kids grow up right in front of my camera, and now I get to photograph this whole new version of their family. We headed to Swami’s Beach in Encinitas for their latest family session, and it was the perfect laid-back San Diego backdrop. The cliffs, rocks, and open beach give us so much to work with, especially when that gorgeous evening light starts coming in.

This is also exactly why I’m such a big believer in continuing to take family photos even when your kids aren’t little anymore. There’s a tendency to photograph EVERYTHING when they’re babies and toddlers, and then somewhere along the way, the yearly photos start to slow down. But your family keeps changing! Having photos from all of those different stages is such a gift, and looking back at sixteen years of sessions with this crew makes that pretty obvious.
