SDSU is one of my ALL TIME favorite places to photograph because it’s my alma mater! I met my husband here (well, through a mutual friend but we quickly discovered we both were Aztecs & the rest is history) and it’s impossible for me to walk across campus without zeroing in on many of our special little spots that have funny stories or sweet memories tied to them. I love coming here & love it even more when I’m photographing a family I’ve been photographing for about a DECADE now! These guys are celebrating Brenden’s choice to go to San Diego State University in the fall, so we decided this would be the perfect spot for some family photos while he’s on summer break!
Where to even begin with this one?! This sweet little one is Mia, and she’s just the most precious thing ever! Let me just say I’m SO happy I have a little girl of my own, because if I didn’t, I’d have MAJOR baby fever! I’ve known her mama for gosh… like 22+ years or something NUTS like that; we used to be in dance class & drill team together when I was young! It was so awesome to see these guys & take family photos at Montevalle Park in Chula Vista, one of my favorite places!
It’s funny how once you reach a certain age, babies tend to come in waves. Right now, I have like 6 pregnant friends all due within a month or so of each other… it’s SO exciting! These guys are two friends of mine who are expecting a little girl to join them in the next few weeks! We decided to have their maternity session in the Rose Gardens at Balboa Park, one of my all-time favorite places, and a perfect spot to celebrate their little girl!
As much as I adore working with little kids, there’s definitely something super fun about getting to work with a family of all adults! The same dynamics are there… siblings messing with each other, parents reeling everyone in a bit, etc, but they’re so fun to witness. I loved this Coronado Beach shoot!
Where to begin with these two??! First off, they were both so sweet & totally embraced the chilly, overcast weather at their beach shoot! I absolutely love the soft, even lighting of a cloudy beach, but a lot of times I have families & couples who are vocally bummed when it’s cloudy. I totally get it of course, but it was so refreshing to have a couple who totally didn’t mind!
These two have been together forever (they met in middle school!), and celebrated a belated 1 year anniversary with a photo shoot at La Jolla Shores, which is where they got engaged! They love cooking, traveling, and Friends (I have NO idea how I didn’t make ANY Friends references during our session… that’s my favorite too!), and we had so much fun during our shoot! Check out their awesome, overcast beach session below!
