I met up with Lina & Ben at Peohe’s Restaurant for their Ferry Landing session! My favorite thing about Coronado is that it’s SO easy to get from the Ferry Landing to the Hotel Del, so we decided to do half their session with the downtown skyline in the back & the other half on the beach! This couple is so much fun & I can’t wait to shoot their wedding next month! Lina was a trooper; the beach was SUPER cold & windy this day & she hung in like a champ & looked gorgeous!!

You might recognize Amy & Ken from a photoshoot we did at Old Poway Park a few months ago. I was so flattered when Amy called me & wanted to schedule another shoot!! They even brought their dog along for some super cute doggy photos (I LOVE Cocker Spaniels!) and we had a lot of fun & shared some laughs while trying to get her attention. :) I think it’s SO important for families to take photos together even after the kids are grown. My last family portrait (besides the obligatory ones at weddings and such) was when I was SIX. Over twenty years ago!! Every time grown children call me to schedule photoshoots with their parents, I’m inspired to get my family together for a session, but to this day I haven’t done it yet. I need to start following my own advice!!!

Little Elias is turning one!!! We celebrated his birthday with a mini session at Old Poway Park & finished it off with a cake smash!! I absolutely love these sessions…. it’s so fun to watch the little ones explore their very own little cake! He wasn’t TOO sure what this whole cake business was all about but he definitely got a mouthful in anyway!! His little outfit matched his cake too… freaking adorable! I can’t believe I get paid to hang out with these little cuties & be present for so many fun milestones!!

Spring is here!! That means more & more spring mini sessions will be coming to the blog! Next week will be crazy… two dozen mini sessions in one week!! I’m looking forward to it though… they have been REALLY cute so far!!

Check out these kids… this is my fourth time photographing them & even though they moved to Las Vegas, I’m so happy they STILL contact me when they’re in town for their photos!! I’ll have to make a trip out to them next time… tax deductible trip to Vegas? Alright, if you force me. ;)

BIG congratulations go out to my cousins Jesse & Angela on their adorable new addition to their family!! I’ve always loved Jesse & Angela; they’re my husband’s cousins & have always made me feel included & welcome in the family… so I was super happy to be able to gift them a newborn session when Alexander was born!! Alexander is a Valentine’s Day baby & I know he’s going to steal all the ladies hearts someday… he’s so adorable!!

I’ve seen these cute kiddos three times now!! Love all my sessions with the Rodelander family… these kids are super adorable & full of energy: just how I think kids should be!! We met this time in their neighborhood park which was a great spot because the kids were familiar with it & it was really pretty! Sometimes it’s a good idea if your kids are energetic to keep a session local & at a familiar spot; it ensures the kids won’t be too distracted by new places & things to look at, and allows us to have a smooth, happy session! This was definitely the case for these guys; they did so great!!

You might recognize Ashley & Matt from their maternity session at Balboa Park a couple months ago. They’re such a fun, easy going couple & I am happy to say their new addition to their family is here!! Little Sienna is just the cutest thing & she was such a good sleeper for our session!! We took Sienna’s photos in their home & then ventured out to a local park for family photos (dog included!) which turned out great with the warm, afternoon light. I love that it’s staying brighter later at this time of year… I can fit more sessions in each day! Once daylight savings time hits, sometimes I’m out working until 7:30 or 8!! Which is totally crazy to think of now! Check out this adorable little family; I hope to see more of them throughout the year!!

I am so blessed to have married into the wonderful family I did… I absolutely love my in-laws; every last one of them!! I am so honored that one of my new cousins, Erika, referred one of her friends to me! Erika & Tanya have known each other since Middle School I believe & it was a big honor to take Tanya’s maternity photos!! She brought along little Viviana to be in the photos & I can tell she’s going to be a great big sister!! Tanya was just glowing & the beautiful lighting at Balboa Park in the afternoon was perfect for this session!

Oh. My. Goodness did I have a busy last couple of days?! On Wednesday night, my friend & I headed up to Disneyland around 10 PM. They were open for 24 hours for Leap Day & we wanted to see what it would be like to ride rides at 4 AM! So we spent about 6 hours in the park & stayed until it closed at 6 AM… so much fun! We decided to get a hotel room & go back the next day for a few hours because we heard they’d be shooting Modern Family inside the park & we wanted to check it out.

Let’s get one thing straight here. “Friends” is BY FAR the funniest TV show that has ever been on TV. Period. But if there had to be a runner up, Modern Family is a CLOSE second. My husband & I were hooked on Modern Family from the very first Pilot episode… I don’t think it would be possible to not laugh out loud while watching any episode of this show. So it’s by far my favorite show on TV right now. When we saw the film crews setting up for a new scene, we were SO excited & grabbed a spot off camera but where we knew we’d have a good view of the cast.

After watching them rehearse for about 15 minutes, a crew member came up to our area of the crowd & started to ask for volunteers. Before she even finished her question, my friend & I were very vocal about being willing to volunteer! So she took us behind the rope, had us sign waivers, and sat my friend on a bench with a Disneyland balloon & had me stand in the middle of Main St. and told me to walk to the bench & sit down once they said “action!” WOW! Luckily I had my camera around my neck (perfectly fine prop for a Disneyland tourist) so I was able to sneak some stealth shots of the cast while I was literally 5-10 feet away from them!

I do have to apologize for the photo quality a bit. First off, I never take my “work” camera to Disneyland; I want to be able to go on rides & not freak out that it’s going to get broken or something, so the camera I had wasn’t the best. Secondly, while watching I could snap photos all I want but once I was on set I couldn’t be so obvious. So half of these were taken with my camera around my neck like normal, and me aiming as well as I could without looking through the viewfinder & sneakily pressing the shutter button down. Needless to say they aren’t the best quality photos ever taken… but I still think they’re pretty cool!!

Check them out! And look for me in the background of the Modern Family “Disneyland” episode coming soon!

PS: Does this mean I can call myself a “Celebrity Photographer?!” Hehehe
