What’s up with this San Diego weather lately?! It’s been so dark & gloomy; I’m ready for some sunshine… and I hardly ever have to say that!! Luckily for me, the only sunny day in the past week was on Saturday when I joined my aunt & uncle (and their furchild, Barney!) at Balboa Park for a beautiful afternoon session! Barney is 14 going on 15 & she gets around like a champ! I do have a soft spot in my heart for Golden Retrievers… my husband & I just adopted our first puppy ever a few weeks back. More on that to come later, but for now check out how awesome this doggy is & how adorable her parents are!!

You might recognize Amy & Ken from a photoshoot we did at Old Poway Park a few months ago. I was so flattered when Amy called me & wanted to schedule another shoot!! They even brought their dog along for some super cute doggy photos (I LOVE Cocker Spaniels!) and we had a lot of fun & shared some laughs while trying to get her attention.
I think it’s SO important for families to take photos together even after the kids are grown. My last family portrait (besides the obligatory ones at weddings and such) was when I was SIX. Over twenty years ago!! Every time grown children call me to schedule photoshoots with their parents, I’m inspired to get my family together for a session, but to this day I haven’t done it yet. I need to start following my own advice!!!

You might recognize Ashley & Matt from their maternity session at Balboa Park a couple months ago. They’re such a fun, easy going couple & I am happy to say their new addition to their family is here!! Little Sienna is just the cutest thing & she was such a good sleeper for our session!! We took Sienna’s photos in their home & then ventured out to a local park for family photos (dog included!) which turned out great with the warm, afternoon light. I love that it’s staying brighter later at this time of year… I can fit more sessions in each day! Once daylight savings time hits, sometimes I’m out working until 7:30 or 8!! Which is totally crazy to think of now! Check out this adorable little family; I hope to see more of them throughout the year!!

I met York & Julie on a beautiful Thursday afternoon at the Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park for a photo shoot. Julie was the sweetest dog! She was a bit hyper at first… then VERY confused about what was going on & a little bored, haha, but we made it work! Pet photography is definitely a challenge but I just love capturing the special moments between pets and their owners! I’m a huge pet lover myself & have had many over the years and the special bond created with a pet is unlike any other! Here’s York & his puppy, Julie!

Andddd just because it didn’t feel right writing a pet blog post with this little thing sitting on my lap & not including her, here’s a photo of lovely miss Paisley

I was so happy when Krista contacted me via Facebook (don’t you just love Facebook?!) to do some photos of her & her brother (and her fur-child!) so they have great Christmas presents for their parents & grandparents this year! Krista & I have known each other since Kindergarten but haven’t seen each other in over 10 years!! Her mom was my first Girl Scout troop leader, so we go way back. I just love the holidays; I get to see so many friends & family in front of my camera… in fact, I have another session today with one of my best friends!! Makes work so easy & fun!!
The last photo was their idea… and probably the most realistic of all!!

Isn’t it such a small world?! I am constantly meeting clients who have mutual friends with me (Facebook connects so many people!) which I find really REALLY cool. The Procopio Family are great friends with my cousin & have been for years & years! I was so happy to see them again this year; these kiddos are the cutest & they even added to the cuteness factor this year by bringing along one of the most adorable dogs I’ve ever seen!

Another successful day of holiday mini sessions! I was so stoked to see so many return clients this week… I love catching up with everyone & I saw some of my favorite clients of all time on Saturday!
I met Elise & Russell & their little one in February for her first birthday photos. She was SO cute then & is even cuter now!! I love kids who love the camera! Elise is always so sweet too; I love how she wanted to know everything about my wedding in April & was so fun to chit chat with. Their dog, Lilly was SUCH a good sport as well & makes these photos look like they should be in a magazine!!
This family is awesome too… Sophie, the big sister, was such a ham for the camera & is a great big sister to little Olivia! I get to see them again next week for Olivia’s photos & I’m so excited. She was so alert & interested in the camera! A picture perfect family for sure.
Giacomo & Luisa’s beautiful family were my first session of the day… and such troopers because it was freezing cold! Both kids were so great during the session & it was really hard to pick the best two photos for the sneak peek! Another returning client; I did their holiday photos last year too. So good to see them again!
Last but not least, the Middleton family. I first met this family about a year & a half ago for this little guy’s newborn photos. Rusty works at the Ivy hotel downtown (or, at least, he used to… not sure if he’s still there) so we did the newborn session on the roof in a pool cabana! One of the coolest newborn shoots ever! I saw them again at La Jolla Cove probably about 7 or 8 months ago so was so thrilled to see them again for holiday photos! They’re just one of the cutest & nicest families I’ve ever met!!
All in all, another great day of mini sessions… considering it was pouring cats & dogs on Friday, and is pouring cats & dogs again today (Sunday) we got lucky with the great weather on Saturday!

I had the chance to hang out with Lisa & her beautiful dog Tilly today down at Sunset Cliffs. First off, Lisa is AWESOME. My schedule has been less than accommodating this past year during the Groupon, & beach sessions are tough to find the perfect window of good lighting & decent tide, but she was SO patient. She’s a life coach & I’ll bet she’s really good at her job! I knew this session would rock when she told me she needed a couple headshots for her website but the rest of the photos she just wanted to have fun. And fun was had! We clambered over the cliffs a bit and repelled down a little cliff (camera in tow!) to get to the beach at the Cliffs (I don’t know how I haven’t been here before) & it was well worth it! I’ll tell ya, I’m up for just about anything to get a good shot! I had to do two little sneak peeks here as half the photos were just Lisa & the other half were her & Tilly. Gorgeous subjects, great lighting, and an awesome location made for a super fun shoot. I love when I have clients I can chat it up with during their session & Lisa was just that!
